Duplicates of this watch are available for purchase at www.joshua.studio in any quantity for 36 hours following its first appearance online. This watch was planned, fabricated, and hand-painted by Joshua in his bedroom-studio in NYC. Each duplicate will vary slightly from what is pictured but is manufactured the same way. This watch is without the uniform finish of traditional, mass-produced, products. Idea-to-finished-object-speed is more important to Joshua than surface quality. Wear at your own risk. While each watch is assembled carefully, they should be worn sparingly as they are primarily intended for presentation / demonstration / ceremonial purposes. Prior to being deemed sellable, this watch design was worn for 200 hours. After regular wear dust will build in crevices and paint will rub off. Do not rinse the watch for cleaning. This watch is not waterproof. Blow on the watch or used compressed air to clean. Long sleeves can put additional stress on the components and age them faster. If your watch breaks, you may glue it back together. Specially-designed packaging is intended to safely transport the watch to you and act as a display case when not being worn. Inspect the watch and case upon arrival. If there is noticeable shipping damage, take photos before opening and send them to email@joshua.studio with the subject line “shipping damage”. Once opened, the watch cannot be replaced. The custom watch-holder/spool is modeled after Joshua’s wrist and allows the watch to safely float and be viewable from 360° while encased. The flexible strap is antimicrobial and comfortable on the wrist. The strap fits most wrists (147-195mm). If the strap doesn’t fit you can swap it with any 18mm wide strap to wear. The watch ships tightly on the spool/holder and should be removed carefully. The spool/holder is flexible but can break if severely bent or impacted. If the spool-holder breaks, reattach with super glue. The spool/holder is constructed as very thin shell with the intention of using as little material as possible. The spool/holder is encased in a thin PET cube to preserve the work and prevent environmental aging. Each watch and its packaging takes 4 hours to fabricate and is reflected in the pricing. Joshua has no employees or interns. Watches are made-to-order and ship in two weeks. Not all components are heavily stocked and additional time may be required if demand is high. If a component is lost or broken within one month of purchase and cannot be glued back together you can email email@joshua.studio with the subject line “components”. The base material used for this watch and packaging is a bioplastic commonly known as PLA, which has been sourced from corn grown and processed in North America. There is a misconception that PLA is environmentally friendly or compostable. PLA is not environmentally friendly. No product is environmentally friendly. PLA has the benefit of being harvested locally from a renewable crop instead of fossil fuels (like normal plastics), but fossil fuels are still used by farming equipment to maintain and process the crop. Fossil fuels are still being used to transport the materials to Joshua’s studio and then to you. By purchasing this watch you are aware of the footprint being created. With that in mind it is important that you protect the materials and make their sacrifice worthwhile.
